Eric Sekyi Nketia, a senior lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba, had announced his intention to run for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Primaries and lead the party into the 2024 election.
However, he has now withdrawn from the race, citing unfair treatment.
Nketia claims that despite the party opening nominations, he was denied the opportunity to pick up forms on three separate occasions.
Despite petitioning the General Secretary and the Chairman of the National Council, he received no response or resolution.
As a result, Nketia has decided to withdraw from the race, allowing others to contest.
This unfortunate situation highlights the importance of fair treatment and equal opportunities in political processes.
It is crucial that all candidates are given a level playing field to ensure a fair and democratic election.
