The deputy minister of food and agriculture, Mr Yaw Frimpong Addo has said his outfit has placed a ban on the exportation of food.
Speaking on Oyerepa FM morning show on Wednesday, Mr Yaw Frimpong Addo stated that, the move will help buffer stock to store enough food for consumption.
According to him, no individual in Ghana will be permitted to export food or farm produce to foreign nations without approval from the ministry of food and agriculture.
“You can’t export food unless you have approval from the ministry of food and agric.” He reiterated.
He declared further that, the PPRSD department of the agric ministry will also bar the importation of tomatoes if farmers are able to plant them on larger scales.
He indicated that this year’s rain pattern will help farmers to have a good harvest therefore buffer stock is going to mop up all farmers produce to store them in about 5 equipped warehouses in the country.
“Buffer stock is going to mob up all food products and store them in the various warehouses.”He added that the country is going to have a lot of food via the planting for food and jobs next year therefore the ministry is ready to purchase farmers’ produce at higher prices.
