The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Oforikrom constituency in the Ashanti Region, Dr Emmanuel Kwabena Marfo has cut the sod for the construction of a two-storey office complex at Apeadu, a community in the constituency.
The project after its completion will serve both the Oforikrom Municipal Education and the health directorates to enhance their day-to-day activities.
The two-storey-building project, expected to be completed within a period of two years, is estimated at Ghc1.2m
The office will host conference rooms and other office spaces.
Speaking to the media after a short ceremony, the Oforikrom lawmaker stated that the initiative is part of the “Oforikrom MP Legacy Projects.
According to him, he is personally funding the project and several others in his constituency to serve as his legacy.
“This project is a special one. It’s part of my legacy projects. I’m going to raise funds to support it.”
“So far we’re looking at spending about Ghc1.2m on the project to be able to finish it within the two years time frame set for its completion.” He disclosed.
Madam Dorothy Opare-Baidu, the Municipal Education Director of Oforikrom on the other hand expressed her gratitude to Dr Marfo for the project.
She said the edifice will facilitate and accelerate the works of both the municipal’s education and health directorates.
