MzVee, an award-winning Ghanaian artist, has spoken out regarding her partial blindness, disclosing that she has had the condition since birth.
The ‘Sing My Name’ hitmaker revealed that she began wearing glasses at the age of eight after her teachers informed her parents about her constant eye strain.
Talking openly about her condition, MzVee stated that she struggles to see on stage and frequently has to squeeze her eyes to catch a glimpse of her audience.
“I don’t see when I am performing unless I take a really good look and stare, but not really,” she said.
Despite this obstacle, MzVee asserted that her partial blindness has aided her in some ways, particularly when she first began performing.
She clarified that being incapable of seeing the audience helped to calm her nerves and focus on her music.
“I don’t see when I am performing unless I take a really good look and stare, but not really. It helped me when I started music and I was very nervous about the crowd because, when I got on stage, I will not see anybody,” she added.
However, the “Come and See My Moda” hitmaker also revealed that her condition has caused her a few embarrassing moments, such as tripping on staircases.
“I have tripped a few times when climbing the staircases,” she revealed.
