Eric Laale, a one-year-old boy, has undergone maxillofacial surgery at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital.
Eric and his parents live at Bokwase, a community in the Evalue Gwira District of the Western region.
He was diagnosed with a maxillofacial deformity at three days old.
Maxillofacial deformities are irregularities or malformations in the bones and/or soft tissues of the jaws and face. Causes range from congenital conditions such as cleft lip and cleft palate, diseases such as cancer, or can be the outcome of trauma such as an automobile accident
After receiving a series of medical treatments, the parents were asked to pay an amount of twenty thousand, three hundred, and one Ghana Cedis (GHC 20,301).
But they were unable to afford the said medical bill while the boy was sufferings from the sickness for almost a year.
Eric’s parents got in touch with Oyerepa’s “Help Me Change” team for assistance.
“Help Me Change” is a program designed to help the sick, poor, and vulnerable. It’s show on Oyerepa TV every Sunday 7pm.
After showing the plea of the parent on Oyerepa TV, the said amount was raised, and the surgery was successfully done.
Eric, who could not eat well, sleep well, or crawl because of the pain he was going through, is now relieved and can do what he was not able to do.
The mother, Georgina, thanked Oyerepa’s “Help Me Change” team for their timely intervention and asked for God’s blessing on the donors.
