The Paramount chief (Goasomanhene) of the Goaso Traditional council in the Ahafo Region, Nana Akwasi Bosomprah has called for a strong bond of unity among Tribes, irrespective of their tribal, political or religious affiliation, to help bring prosperity to the Ahafo Region.

He said the adage, “In unity lie strength”, should manifest in festivals

He made the call when he joined Goaso Dagombas to launch the Ahafo Dagomba union Association and to celebrate Smock day.

Delivering his speech, the Goasomanhene stated that he was proud to reiterate without any reservations that members of his community are peaceful and law-abiding citizens, who have exercised patience and discipline in terms of developmental ambitions.

He said it was unfortunate that Ghanaians were promoting foreign meals such as tea, fried rice, pizzas and noodles as their favourite, saying that these could result in lifestyle diseases.

Nana Bosomprah expressed worry that there were no concrete measures to promote the consumption of indigenous foods.

Promotion Traditional Wear

Member of Parliament (MP) for Asutifi South Constituency, Alhaji Collins Dauda also urged Ghanaians to inculcate worthy traditional values into their lives as Northeners and disabuse their minds from myths surrounding worthy traditional values and customs.

He also advised citizens to patronize made-in-Ghana goods, specifically clothing to enhance productivity in the country.

“The wearing of Smock to other countries began in 1996 when the late former president Jerry John Rawlings decided to wear Smock to countries and it has subsequently been replicated in the world,” he said.

He said further that, the initiative is to promote tradition, made-in-Ghana products and demystify the myths surrounding African clothing.

Youth Advice

Naaba Basheru Mohammed, President Ahafo council of Zongo chiefs also warned the community, especially the youth, not to get involved in violence and to respect the authorities.

“We reject tribalism, ethnicity, sexism and other social evils such as gender-based violence as well as the excessive consumption of alcohol and drug abuse. In our quest to remain identified as a tribe,” he said.
