Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, believes that president Akufo-Addo government squandered taxpayer funds invested in the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO).
According to him, the government was given the chance to industrialize the country in order to create jobs for the youth but instead chose the easy way out, resulting in a large number of unemployed youth in the country.
“For Government to pick the youth and place them in offices where they were doing nothing and being paid Ghc700 is worrying. Government could have used the money to build industries which could have employed 20,000 permanent workers to reduce the number of unemployed youth,” he said.
The Assin Central legislator argued that Ghana needs a lot of industries.
He expressed his dissatisfaction with the development bank’s business model, arguing that it should instead be lending to local businesses to help them grow rather than commercial banks.
Regardless of his shortcomings, he stated that claims that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has done nothing for the country are false because investments in one district and one factory (1D1F) are generating excellent results, and the country will benefit from them.
