Due to the death of one of its lecturers, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been put in deep sorrow.
Dr Richard Tia was an associate professor of chemistry and a computational and theoretical chemist in the College of Science’s Department of Chemistry.
Dr Tia died on Wednesday, November 30 due to a fatal disease, according to a post by KNUST live.
He died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital having battled Stage 4 liver cancer since October of last year.
Madam Juliana Lamise, his wife, confirmed the news, pleading with her well-wishers to remember her family in their prayers.
He was an outspoken social commentator who published opinion pieces on public issues until his death.
Messages of condolence from his students, particularly those from Katanga Hall, have flooded social media.
