The Member of Parliament for Effiduase Asokore, Hon. Nana Ayew Afriyie, has said President Akufo-Addo is not certain of what will happen after the 3 week ultimatum he’s asked for regarding Ofori Atta’s removal.
The President had been petitioned by some NPP MPs to relieve Ken Ofori-Atta of his post as Finance Minister.
Speaking with Kwesi Parker-Wilson on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, the legislator disclosed that Nana Akufo-Addo, in a meeting with the majority caucus of parliament, gave no assurance whether Ofori-Atta would be dismissed after the deal with the IMF is sealed within the 3 week ultimatum he asked for.
The MP said that during the meeting with the President, he did not emphatically state what would be done after the deal with the IMF is sealed and probably the economy stabilized.
According to Hon. Ayew, the president mentioned in the meeting that, “There may be no need to even come to him for the needful after the ultimatum.”He could sack, re-assign, re-shuffle, or replace the finance minister”. But he never said that, should the economy bounce back, he would still dismiss the finance minister.
