President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahohoo Yaw Gyebi II has called on all Ghanaians to support the fight against illegal mining (galamsey) in the country.
Remember that President Akufo-Addo, on Wednesday, October 5 2022 met the National House of Chiefs and MMDCEs in Kumasi on ways by which they can help fight against the galamsey menace.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time concerning the galamsey battle, Ogyeahohoo Yaw Gyebi II stated that, it is the obligation of every Ghanaian to contribute to the fight against the canker.
He said, the government is doing its best to stop illegal mining however, all and sundry must all endeavour to stop the danger.
When asked by the interviewer, Kwesi Parker Wilson, if he would rate the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led government in the combat against galamsey, the National House of Chiefs President stated that rating the government is needless if the peril still persists.
“Even if I score the government 99 per cent in the fight against galamsey, it’s not enough; the remaining 1 per cent means nothing. So we must stop galamsey. You see, it’s neither here nor there, whether the score is 80%, 5% or 99%. We must stop galamsey.” Ogyeahohoo Yaw Gyebi II indicated.
