Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabere North Constituency, Collins Adomako-Mensah has alleged that some gurus in Accra are involved in illegal mining (galamsey) activities in Ghana.
President Akufo-Addo’s quest to fight against galamsey has proven futile as illegal miners continue to destroy rich lands and water bodies.
Speaking in an interview on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Collins Adomako-Mensah disclosed that, some big men in the country’s capital are involved in galamsey operations.
According to him, those people have hired people to embark on the illegality for them.
“There are people living in Accra who have hired people to do galamsey for them.” He said.
The Afigya Kwabere North MP said those people are big men who are making it difficult for the government to fight the menace.
However, the only way the government can fight illegal mining is to deploy the security services to arrest the kingpins of galamsey
“Deploy the security services to go after anybody who is involved in this Galamsey issue,” he added.
