James Nana Prempeh, Revenue Convener of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has hinted at the move by the Assembly to shut down businesses including radio stations in the Kumasi Metropolis.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Show , Nana Prempeh hinted that, KMA has inaugurated a revenue taskforce to mobilize its revenue across the city.
According to the Assembly Man for Fankyenebra, the taskforce will enter various institutions including radio stations to take their business operating permit fees. They will shut down any shop and radio station that will fail to pay the aforementioned fees.
“We’ll close down all shops and radio stations if they fail to pay these permits .” Nana Prempeh stated.
Businesses within the Kumasi Metropolis jurisdiction must obtain a Business Operating Permit. Business Operating Permit is a license that enables you to undertake or do business within the City. After first registering with the Assembly, the Business Operating Permit fees are charged annually by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly in accordance with Local Government Act (Act 462) sections 34, 78, 94, 98 and also in accordance with the Fee Fixing Resolution of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly depending on the type and location of the business.
