Dennis Opoku Katakyie , President of Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) has chastised Vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia over his resistance to pay trainees.
According to him Bawumia isn’t credible to become the country’s president.
His comment is in relation to the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia led government’s inability to pay the NABCo Trainees.
Recall that more than 55,000 NABCo trainees under the Vice-President’s office have not received their allowances for about 10 months now.
Speaking on ‘Ghana Tesen’ show on Oyerepa TV/FM Saturday, August 13, 2022 hosted by Parker Wilson, the NABCo President stated emphatically that, the fact that Bawumia isn’t able to pay trainees apparently indicates that, he is not credible. He cannot become president of the country.
“Mr Vice president, you want to be a president and you’re treating NABCo trainees this way, then what is your credibility?
You are given excuses about Covid-19 and Ukraine war meanwhile you and Chief of Staff Frema Opare have paid yourselves.” He stated.
According to him, the New Patriotic Party [NPP] government have taken NABCO trainees for granted. The Akufo-Addo government has used and dumped them however, they’ll fight very hard for their locked up allowances.
“We’ve been taken for granted because nurses, teachers, doctors, soldiers etc are being paid. Those people are receiving salaries but NABCo trainees, we’re receiving allowances. If you can pay salaries without allowances, how do you want me to trust you as a Vice-President who wants to be President in future of this country? The Answer is NO!”
He added that, the trainees are not happy about the foregoing therefore are going to embark on picketing on Thursday in Accra to express their grief over the 10 months unpaid allowances.
He however advised all NABCO trainees nationwide to join forces together for a massive picketing.
He said the over 55,000 trainees will converge at Obra Spot and end the picketing at Independence Square and wait for Bawumia to receive their petition.
In fact we’re not happy about it at all, we’re going picket at the independence Square, we’re not returning home empty handed, we’ll sleep over there till we’re paid.” He said.
