Artisans at Suame Mazagine who attacked the Majority leader and Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu over poor road network say they do not regret their action because it has yielded positive result.
Angry residents pelted sachet water on the Suame MP and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs when he visited the area, Monday July 18, 2022.
Less than 24 hours after the attack, contractors resumed to sits and begun working in earnest.
Addressing the media at the precinct of Parliament on Thursday, July 21, the Ashanti region Members of Parliament caucus condemned the attack on the Suame MP and called on the attackers to apologize.
But the artisans say they did nothing wrong, hence, won’t apologize.
“What happened to Kyei-Mensah Bonsu may be unfortunate but for us, it is a blessing in disguise. For how long does government want us to keep mute and suffer? Sometimes, being rowdy brings better result and that’s what we have achieved. We will not apologize to anyone”, an artisan, Osei Mensah indicated.
“Can the MP for Asante Akyem Central who is telling us to apologize come and say that here? I’m sure he will regret. We have pampered our MPs and it’s time we those who are not working feel the heat”, another artisan, Justice Arkoful stated.
Meanwhile, the Finance Minister has laid a credit facility of 135 million euros for the construction of the Suame interchange and other ancillary works.
