A senior lecturer at KNUST and a member of the NPP’s communications team, Dr. Emmanuel Amankwah, has described statement and actions from member of the council of state Togbe Afede XIV as dishonest following his rejection money given to him as an ex-gratia under President Akuffo Addo.
The traditional leader after returning the money, has since been praised by a section of Ghanaians including the former UN special advisor on governance Prof Baffour Agyeman-Duah for his gesture.
Togbe Afede XIV rejected an amount of $365,000 deposited in his account as ex-gratia, stating that the ex-gratia is inappropriate and must be abolished.
Despite the gesture receiving massive applauds by some Ghanaians, the seasoned lecturer speaking on Oyerepa FM’s BreakFast Show hosted by Nana Yaw Mensah Joel on Wednesday 8th June, 2022, said: “The money reflected in somewhere July 2021 and couldn’t talk about it till today do what was he waiting of he didn’t want it “
“He is trying to paint his colleague members of the council of state black in a way of making Ghanaians perceive them as bad leaders” he said.
What engineered the delay of returning the money which reflected in your account for close to a year now “? He queried.
He further asked “what is wrong with something that is constitutionally mandated.
However, Mr Amankwah accused Togbe Afede XIV for not been honest with the fact that there has been some amount flowing into his account for being a member of the council of state yet never came out publicly to speak out.
He wondered why Togbe Afede XIV is complaining about the recent transaction.
