The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ‘Sister Mackerel’, Mr Agyeman Badu has pledged to help a 23-year-old, Comfort, whose left arm or hand was amputated in childhood.
Comfort who appeared on Oyerepa Afutuo accused her father of not taking care of her to complete SHS despite losing her left hand.
According to her, she grew up only to see her left hand amputated.
“I saw one of my left arm being cut off when I grew up. My mother told me a nurse at a big government hospital caused it when I was an infant,” She said.
Comfort’s mother who also appeared on the show confirmed that her hand was amputated when she was six months old.
‘Comfort’s arm was amputated when she was 6 months -old due to the negligence of some nurses at Tawkwa government hospital,” she stated.
Comfort gained admission to senior high school but later dropped out because her father refused to take care of her.
“I realised I can’t be an artisan so I decided to go to school. I got admission to Feyieaseman Senior High School but dropped out at form one because my father refused to take of me.” She lamented
The father also appeared on the show and said he could not take care of comfort because he’s poor and has 25 children.
The sad story of Comfort touched the hearts of Oyerepa listeners when the host Aunty Naa pleaded for support for her (Comfort) to survive in life.
Many stormed Oyerep FM to donate in support of Comfort.
Mr Agryeman Badu the ‘Sister Mackerel’ CEO initially donated GHc2,000 and pledged to fund the cost of fixing an artificial hand for comfort.
A doctor was called on the show where he said the cost of fixing the artificial hand will be GHc 20,000. Kind heatedly, Agyemang Badu accepted to pay it at any cost.
