The Senior Midwife at Ansondua Health Centre in the Wasa Amenfi East Municipal Assembly of the Western region has added her voice to calls for the Roads Ministry to, as a matter of urgency, construct a bridge on the Ankobra River.
Her call comes at the back of buzzes on government by the people of Ansondua to construct a bridge on river Ankobra to enable them to cross from one side of the river to the other safely and easily.
The absence of the bridge has put the lives of the people, especially school pupils, living on both sides of the river in danger.
They claim, that at least, two people die in the river every year while trying to cross it with canoes.
The Mid-Wife who gave her name as Emma in an interview with Oyerepa TV said, people from the area find it difficult to cross the river to nearby towns for medical treatment whenever the volume of water in the river Ankobrah rises.
She complained about the lack of incentives for health workers posted to rural areas like Ansondua.
Isaac Kwasi Ennim, a Government Appointee at the Wasa Amenfi East Municipal Assembly who is a former Assemblymember for Ansondua said his people also deserve a share of the national cake considering their contribution to national development.
For this reason, the government should as a matter of urgency raise a bridge on the river to make travel easier and safer.
