Outspoken Clergyman with the Calvary Methodist Church, Amakom – Kumasi, has upheld Bishop Charles Agyin-Asare’s call for political party members who flout laws on social distancing and other protocols at polling centres to be punished accordingly, should punishment be metted out to churches and their members.
As the saying goes, what is good for the goose is good for the gander, the Superintendent Minister with the Methodist Church in no certain terms condemned such acts by political parties, calling for fair application of the law, while political authorities demonstrate intellectual discourse devoid of party sentiments and affiliation.
Speaking with Oyerepa FM’s Wofa Atta Frimpong, Rev. Stephen Richard Bosomtwe Ayensu emphasized that the laws must be applied diligently regardless of one being a Member of a Church or a Political party. He called for the necessary punishment to be metted out to those who went contrary to the laid down procedures and rules.
“We should desist from compromises… If you love someone, you need to advise the person. If someone who claims he/ she loves you and does not advise you, it’s a lie, ” he stated.
The Superintendent Minister added that education should continue to go down on doing things in accordance with the laws and protocols of this new voter registration.
Rev. Stephen Bosomtwe Ayensu advised that Parliament reason out and do away with political sentiments and agenda in their discourse. “The various councils must come together and reason out that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath, ” he opined.
He wondered the reason behind people now with keen interest in doing politics, juxtaposing with days immemorial.
