President of the newly formed Women in Timber Ghana Association, (WiTG) Ernestina O. Banahene says, her outfit is ready to assist government to fix the various degraded portions of land in the country.
Speaking at the maiden launch of the association in Kumasi, she said WiTG will join forces with resources groups to tackle issues such as reforestation of degraded portions of the forest for future supply of raw materials and the fight against climate change.
The President added that, the association is ready to partner the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources to achieve the government’s Green Ghana Initiative.
“We will join forces with resources groups to tackle issues such as reforestation of degraded portions of the forest for future supply of raw materials and the fight against climate change. We’re glad to note that, objective perfectly aligns with the Green Ghana Initiative, which is government’s efforts towards restoring degraded landscape in the country.” She added.
Speaking about WiTG mission, she stipulated that, it is to serve as an active platform for building capacities of women in timber in Ghana towards realizing the economic and social viabilities of their businesses.
