The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Wassa Amenfi East Mr Frederick Korankye (KK Korankye), 2 Police personnel and 3 civilians narrowly escaped death after the gun of a police officer accidentally went off.
The incident happened on Sunday, May 15 2022 at Wasa Kropong Police Station.
According to a report on Oyerepa Midday News, the police officer had returned from an operation to arrest armed robbers who attacked a gold dealer at Wassa Akropong.
The officer had wanted to push away a mob that had besieged the police station to complain about frequent armed robbery attacks. In the quest to remove a bullet from the gun, it went off all of a sudden.
The Wassa Amenfi East MCE, 3 civilians and 2 police officers who were around subsequently sustained minor injuries.
A reporter, Baba Musa who visited the MCE and the 5 other victims early Monday morning confirmed to Oyerepa FM that, “they are in good condition.”
