Madame Mercy Kyerewaa, the Assembly member for Seneabu and Bankoagya, farming communities in the Ejesu Municipality of the Ashanti region on Friday morning cried live on Oyerepa FM over the lack of potable water for her people.
The only stream that serves as main source water for the residents has been destroyed by illegal mining (Galamsey).
According to her, the Member of Parliament for Ejesu constituency, John Kuma has constructed two bole holes at Tineabo but Bankogya residents have to walk about 6 miles to Tineabo to fetch water.
Speaking on Oyerepa Break Show, the assembly woman who couldn’t hold unto her tears cried out that, over 7000 population of Bankoagya are dying due to the poor water they drink.
She said, the people share the stream water with animals which mostly deficate in it.
She accused the former MCE for Ejisu, Serwaa Derkyi for not listening to their cry after she reported the situation to her some years ago.
“I fetch some of the water to the former MCE Serwaa Dekye several times but she denied on radio that she is not aware of our water issues ” she lamented.
The Assembly woman commended John Kumah for the construction of two bole holes and pleaded with him to come to the aid of Bankogya residents.
“May the Lord bless John Kuma for the two bole holes, he should come to our aid. Over 7000 voters are living at Bankoagya. I am pleading with the government to come to our aid, we are dying.” The Assembly woman ended up in tears.
