Rwanda Food and Drug Authority has launched an inspection into the ‘indomie chicken flavour’ product over health concerns.
The product, which is imported from Kenya, is said to have high levels of aflatoxin. Rwanda FDA hence asks traders to stop importing it for now.
Reacting to the scare, Ghana food and drugs authority has stated that, Ghanaians should not panic because the unwholesome product has not entered our market.
In a release issued and signed by Mrs Yvonne Nkrumah who is the DCEO, Corporate Service Division of the Food Ana Drugs Authority in Ghana, they indicated that the unwholesome product called “Ladha ya Kuku “ hasn’t entered our market yet.
The statement continues to state that, the only indomie instant chicken noodle product that is registered in Ghana is locally manufactured and only occasionally sourced from Nigeria and are thoroughly taken through testing process before releasing it unto the market
Speaking with a senior regulatory officer of the Food And Drugs Authority, Prince Adutwum Opoku on the Oyerepa Breakfast show hosted by Nana Yaw Mensah Joel, he cautioned Ghanaians to be on the lookout and report any indomie product with the inscription “Ladha Ya Kuku “ should in case such product enters Ghanaian market.
