A lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Mr. Dennis Sarkodie Owusu has urged the Government of Ghana headed by President Akufo-Addo, to create an avenue for people to support the free Senior High School (SHS) policy.
“It’s time for the Akufo-Addo and his government to create Free SHS fund for people to support the country’s education. People want to support the policy, let’s give them the opportunity.” Mr Sarkodie stated on Oyerepa Breakfast Time.
His comment is in relation to the many challenges facing the free SHS policy. There have been a number of schools complaining about inadequate infrastructure (accommodations and classrooms), inadequate learning materials, lack of elective text books, food shortage among others which hinder the comfort of the students.
According to him, there are many people like him who are willing to support the free SHS policy however, there is no avenue to embark on the kind gesture.
For this reason, it’s very necessary for the government or executives of the policy to create the Free SHS fund for people to contribute so as to earn more money for its sustainability.
