National Sports Authority Board Chairman Seth Panwum has lauded the people of Kumasi for their massive show of love for the Black Stars team ahead of the FIFA World Cup play-off clash against the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Friday at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Ghana will host Nigeria on Friday 25th March, 2022 before they travel to Abuja four days later in Abuja at the Moshood Abiola Sports Stadium.
The two West African sworn rivals with will face each other over two legs scheduled for Friday, March 25 and Tuesday, March 29 with the winner set to join the party to the global showpiece in Qatar.
Despite the team’s debacle at the 2021 AFCON, the team has been given awesome welcome since arriving in Kumasi on Tuesday 22nd March, 2022.
Speaking on Oyerapa Breast Fast Show hosted by Nana Yaw Mensah Joel, he maintained that Ghana’s game against the Super Eagles mean so much to Ghana, adding that the game contributes to the country’s Gross Domestic Product- (GDP).
And Seth Panwum has expressed excitement with the fine reception the Black Stars have received so far.
“The people of Kumasi have showed massive love to the Black Stars and that is very nice for the team. Kumasi has always been a home for the Black Stars,” He said.
“The support for the team at even training grounds has been very commendable. We are hoping that the massive support the the team has gotten so far will reflect on the match day to help the team win against Nigeria.” Seth Panwum added.
