The office of Ghana’s Presidency has announced that, it cannot provide financial aid to the country’s 65 years Independence Day celebrations due to lack of funds.
This was announced by Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare via a ‘Wireless Message’ to all Regional Ministers (RMs) and their Regional Coordinating Councils (RMCs).
She added that the president Akufo-Addo’s budget is limited, thus the regions will not be able to celebrate Independence Day financially.
As a result, the Chief of Staff has advised that the day be observed in silence.
“I am directed to inform your regional coordinating council that due to budget constraints, the office of the president will not be able to provide financial support to your council for the 65th March activities for this year as has been the practice in previous years: you are therefore urged to be modest in our 65th Independence anniversary celebration activities,” read part of the ‘Wireless Message’ seen.

The 65th anniversary of Ghana’s independence will be celebrated in the Cape Coast Sports Stadium with the theme “Working Together, Bouncing Back Better.”
