A 42-year-old man, Mohammed Fuseini, was reportedly abducted on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, on Residency Road in Dambai, sparking calls from residents for urgent action from security authorities.
His wife, Isha Fuseini, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. while they were riding home from their shop on a motorbike.
In a harrowing account, she said they were near the Oti Regional Minister’s residence when an oncoming vehicle with its headlights on temporarily blinded them. Her husband stopped the motorbike to let the vehicle pass, and two men reportedly emerged, claiming to be police officers.
“They hit my husband in the chest, handcuffed him, and bundled him into a black pick-up vehicle before speeding away,” she recounted. She added that her husband was unable to speak or resist after being attacked.
Initially believing the men to be genuine security personnel, Ms Fuseini visited the Dambai Divisional Command to inquire about her husband’s whereabouts, only to learn that the police were unaware of the incident.
She suspects the abductors to be two individuals of Fulani extraction, with whom her husband had previous conflicts. According to her, the suspects had accused him of shooting them in the past, claiming their supposed powers rendered them immune to bullets.
Ms Fuseini said she and her husband had seen the suspected Fulanis on the same road hours before the abduction. Neighbours also reportedly spotted the suspects and a black pick-up vehicle in the area on the day of the incident.
She reported the suspects’ names to the police the same night, but no arrests have been made. She is now appealing to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the National Security apparatus, the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), and other authorities to help bring her husband home.
Mawuli Atali, Assembly Member for the Lakeside Electoral Area in Dambai, said he received a call about the incident while at Dodi-Papase Hospital and rushed home to the police station, although he arrived late. He assured the community he would follow up at the station on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) John Nchor, Acting Oti Regional Public Affairs Officer, confirmed the incident to the GNA and assured the public that the police would release their findings soon, promising transparency and a thorough investigation.
