37-Year-Old Fake Soldier Arrested in Accra
A 37-year-old man suspected of impersonating a military officer has been arrested in Accra after he was spotted wearing a full military uniform in the early hours of Monday, February 9, 2026.
Eyewitnesses said the suspect was allegedly on his way to meet a nurse who was on duty rotation when security personnel intercepted him for questioning.
His appearance and behaviour reportedly raised suspicion, prompting officers to demand proper identification and details of his alleged service with the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
During interrogation, the suspect claimed he had served in the military for seven years but was unable to state his rank, a lapse that further deepened doubts about his claims.
He was subsequently arrested and taken into custody for further investigations to establish whether he is a legitimate member of the armed forces or an impostor using the uniform for unlawful purposes.
Authorities say more details will be released as investigations continue.
