Renowned Ghanaian gospel musician, Celestine Donkor, has opened up about a chilling spiritual attack she and her husband faced at their photo and rehearsal studio.
Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb, the award-winning artiste revealed that the unsettling incident occurred in February last year, when they received an alarming call from their studio attendant early one morning.
According to her, the attendant reported that 21 white eggs, along with a calabash filled with assorted grains, including beans, rice, millet, maize, and groundnuts, had been mysteriously placed at the entrance of their studio.
“My husband and I own a photo and rehearsal studio. We had a call from the studio attendant one morning in February last year, only to be told that someone has come to put 21 white eggs, a calabash filled with grains (beans, rice, millet, maize, groundnuts). The calabash had a white cloth lining and a piece of paper with our names written on it,” she stated.
She added that the timing of the act appeared to be deliberate:
“Guess what, it was dropped in the early hours of a Friday, knowing that my husband is a Friday-born.”
The gospel singer explained that upon discovering the items, she and her husband immediately turned to prayer with their prayer partners. They relied on Isaiah 54:17 (“No weapon formed against you shall prosper”) and Isaiah 7:7 (“It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass”) for divine protection and guidance.
Out of that intense moment of spiritual warfare, Celestine revealed, came divine inspiration for her hit song “I Carry Fire.”
“We entered into deep prayer, declaring those scriptures, and out of that experience came the song ‘I Carry Fire’,” she said.
Celestine further disclosed that after the incident, several people hinted that someone within the entertainment industry might have orchestrated the act, though she chose not to reveal names.
“We were told from multiple sources that it was coming from someone in our industry,” she added.
Despite the frightening experience, Celestine Donkor said her faith in God was strengthened, emphasising that no weapon fashioned against believers can prevail.
