Alexander Akwasi Acquah, Member of Parliament for the Akim-Oda constituency in the Eastern region, expressed astonishment at the NDC’s victory in the recent general election.
The Electoral Commission officially declared John Dramani Mahama as the winner of Ghana’s 2024 presidential election. With results from 267 constituencies (excluding nine), Mr. Mahama garnered 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55 percent of the valid votes cast.
This secured his victory over the current Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who was his closest competitor in the 12-candidate presidential race. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia received 4,657,304 votes, accounting for 41.61 percent of the valid votes cast.
The NDC also secured over 184 parliamentary seats in the election.
