Dr. George Akufo Dampare, Chairman of the Elections Security Task Force and Inspector General of Police, has cautioned political parties to be realistic about their chances in the upcoming December 7th general elections. With 12 presidential candidates vying for the top spot, Dr. Dampare reminded parties that only one will emerge victorious.
“We must face reality,” Dr. Dampare emphasized. “As you plan to celebrate your possible victory, also plan for your possible defeat.” His statement serves as a gentle reminder to parties to manage their expectations and maintain peace, regardless of the outcome.
During a meeting with representatives of political parties at Police Headquarters in Accra, Dr. Dampare briefed them on the security arrangements roadmap. He assured the parties that the task force is committed to ensuring a secure and peaceful electoral process.
Dr. Dampare highlighted that security agencies have incorporated election security measures into their mainstream security protocols, building on experience from previous elections. This proactive approach aims to prevent potential disruptions and ensure a smooth voting process.
