Renowned lecturer Professor Aboagye Dacosta from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has issued a challenge to New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. The challenge is for Dr. Bawumia to turn his policy commitments into action before the 2024 elections.
During a panel discussion on Oyerepa FM on August 22, 2024, Prof. Dacosta called on Dr. Bawumia to showcase his leadership skills by taking tangible steps to address critical national issues, particularly the widespread problem of illegal mining (galamsey) in Konongo.
Expressing disappointment with Dr. Bawumia and his team for their lack of effective action on these issues, Prof. Dacosta emphasized the urgent need for decisive measures to demonstrate Dr. Bawumia’s dedication to his policies.
This challenge from the professor comes at a crucial time as the country prepares for the 2024 elections, with Dr. Bawumia’s leadership and policy effectiveness facing increased scrutiny.
“You are claiming that you will do this and that but are still in the park; so why don’t you score the goal? Do something to convince me that you will do this. At least you have three months and nothing is being done,” he said.
The lecturer also expressed concerns about the flawed execution of Dr. Bawumia’s political strategies, suggesting that a more effective approach is needed.
“Those who are handling him are not doing a good job. Hon. Alidu and others, you people don’t give him good advice. Begin to show something now that will prove that you will be able to do it,” he added.
