The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has leveled serious allegations against the National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing them of attempting to rig the 2024 general elections.

At a press conference held at the party’s headquarters today, Communications Director Mr. Ahiagbah revealed a leaked document purportedly showing the NDC’s desperate plans for power.

According to Mr. Ahiagbah, the NDC has been working on this strategy since 2021, employing disruptive, unfair, and crude tactics to capture power.

He condemned the NDC’s actions as an abuse of public trust in the democratic system. Mr. Ahiagba urged voters to punish this betrayal and deter future opposition parties from similar extremes.

The controversy surrounds the NDC’s alleged attempts to assume majority status in parliament, reportedly with Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin’s active support. This development follows the minority NDC’s irregular opposition to the 2022 budget.

[8:53 am, 23/10/2024] +233 27 501 8412: NPP Commends Majority Caucus For Upholding Rule Of Law: Urges Speaker To Maintain Neutrality

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has praised its Majority Caucus in Parliament, led by Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, for standing firm on the side of the law during Tuesday’s sitting. The party applauded their maturity amidst provocation from the NDC Minority.

The party urged Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin To maintain neutrality, acting as a referee rather than a player.

Speaking at press conference today, Mr Richard Ahiagbah, the director of communications says the NPP, its MPs demonstrated unwavering commitment to lawful processes, resisting the Speaker’s alleged attempt to reconfigure Parliament’s composition.

The Supreme Court vindicated the Majority Caucus, ordering the Speaker to rescind his decision.

The party emphasized the Speaker’s oath to uphold the Constitution, noting only the Supreme Court can interpret and enforce its provisions. The NPP’s statement reaffirmed its dedication to Ghana’s peace, stability, and democratic principles.
