The Commanding Officer of Achiase Jungle Warfare Training School in Achiase District of the Eastern Region, Lt Col Jacob Codjoe, has warned voters in the Akyemansa block against violence or any trouble in the December 7 election.
Lt Col Codjoe has urged all residents to be law abiding in order not to incur the wrath of the military.
The Army Chief has said his men are ready to beat troublemakers mercilessly as he pledged to maintain neutrality and professionalism.
He was speaking after a peace walk organised by the Salvation Army Church in the principal street of Akyem Oda in the Birim Central Municipality under the theme; Seek peace and pursue it (PSL 34:14).
The event aimed to promote peace and unity in the upcoming election and reinforce the message that maintaining harmony in the community is vital.
“I want to tell you that I will only come in on 7th December within the Akyemansa enclave when Police tell me they cannot and when I come, I will beat you and the hell will leave you.
“I always want people to try me. So, those of you seated here, any of you can try me on that day or try any of my men,” he cautioned.
To avoid any mayhem, he encouraged voters to cast their ballot and return home peacefully without delay.
“When you go to the polling station, just cast your vote and go home. Go and sleep. When it’s 5 p.m., come back, and they will tell you where to stand. They will count the votes for you. If you win, clap and go home,” he urged.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and warning potential troublemakers.
“You will not have any problem with me and my people if you behave. We are not going to sit down for just two or three people to distort the peace that Ghana is enjoying.”
The soldier’s motivation for this warning stems from his desire to protect Ghana’s peace and stability.
“We have a duty as religious individuals, as security personnel, as family members, and as individuals to protect the good things we have as a country.”
“The only good thing we have as a country now is peace. If we distort it, nothing can go on.”
Meanwhile, The Territorial Commander of the Salvation Army Church-Ghana, Col. Seth Agyei Appeateng, encouraged Ghanaians to keep practicing and enjoying peace and desist from anything that would jeopardize the peaceful nation Ghanaians are enjoying now.
