Member of Parliament (MP) for the Manhyia North Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Akwasi Konadu has disclosed that the government will factor concerns of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) in the country’s 2023 budget.
This came after the GMA cautioned against increasing figures of doctors wanting to travel abroad to work if the government did not revise the service conditions of its members.
Speaking at the 64th Annual General Conference of the Association at Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, the President of the GMA, Dr Frank Serebour said the motive behind the notice is to help health professionals cope with current economic hardship in the country as the cost of living shoots up.
In an interview with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel on Oyerepa Breakfast Show, the Manhyia North MP pleaded with the medical association to give the government some time to make the necessary provisions to improve their service conditions.
However, the Manhyia North legislator believes that the situation of the Medical service should be looked at by listening to them and that is the only way government and the association can reach a compromise position.
Akwasi Konadu admitted that the country is currently in difficult times but trusts that things are going to get better as the government is working around the clock to put things in order.
“Indeed we are in difficult times but certainly there are brighter days ahead and things will get better in the coming days” he stated.
“We will plead with our brothers and sisters not to leave the country as the government is making provisions to meet their demands in working” he added.
