The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested 10 suspected drug offenders during an intelligence-led operation conducted across several communities in Cape Coast in the Central Region.

The operation targeted areas identified as suspected hotspots for drug trafficking and abuse, including Pedu, Victoria Road, the University of Cape Coast (UCC) enclave, Downtown, and other strategic locations.

According to NACOC, the exercise forms part of its ongoing nationwide efforts to combat the illicit drug trade and enhance public safety.

The Commission said its officers carried out simultaneous raids at multiple locations, leading to the arrest of the suspects and the seizure of items believed to be connected to illegal narcotics activities.

The suspects, comprising both men and women between the ages of 24 and 55, are currently in custody and assisting investigators.

NACOC disclosed that the recovered exhibits will undergo further examination as investigations continue to determine their connection to the suspected drug-related offences.

The Commission said the operation underscores its commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and reducing the circulation of illicit drugs in communities across the country.

It added that the suspects will be processed in accordance with the law after investigations are completed.

NACOC also urged members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information to support its fight against drug trafficking and other narcotics-related crimes nationwide.
